Alpine Climate

A new Scenario for TTDPatch

by Michael Blunck

April 2005

Test Version (0.0) - Apr 5th, 2005

What is the Alpine Climate?

The Alpine Climate will be a variant of the well-known Temperate Climate. Of course, itīll have snow and its own alpine-style buildings and (maybe) its own industries.

Unfortunately, the implementation of the needed changes for the patch will last a good while. Thatīs why Iīve decided to release my test and development version (v0.0) now.

However, this version (0.0) is still based on the Arctic climate, though itīs looking perfectly "alpine". It still contains the original arctic industries and products and in addition those arctic specialities like the need for feeding towns above snow-line are still in effect. This will be changed as soon as thereīs progress with the patchīs implementation.

How to install the Alpine Climate?

Preliminaries

The Alpine Climate is available in a DOS ("alpine.zip") and in a Windows version ("alpinew.zip"). Just copy the files from the appropriate alpine .zip file into the "newgrf" directory under your TTD main directory and add the names of the .grf files to your "newgrf.cfg" resp. "newgrfw.cfg" file.

Youīll need TTDPatch version 2.0.1 alpha 49 (or higher) to run the Alpine Climate.

The actual version of the Alpine Climate is 0.0 (grf-ID is 6D 62 07 00) and itīs of Apr 5th, 2005.

What components are included into the Alpine Climate package?

Supplying parameters to the Alpine Climate

At the time there are no parameters.

Variables to set in ttdpatch.cfg

There is no need to set any special variables in "ttdpatch.cfg".

Set compatibility

The Alpine Climate is fully compliant with NewStations v0.4, i.e. stations above snowline will be shown with snowy graphics and those below snowline will include correct temperate ground tiles.

Youīll need the DB Set XL v.0.82 for the Alpine Climate.

Acknowledgments

The availability of new graphics was only made possible by the outstanding work of Josef Drexler and Marcin Grzegorczyk on TTDPatch. The "newhouses" patch, which is of vital importance for the Alpine Climate, was written by Csaba Varga. In particular Iīd like to express my gratitude to Josef for the fruitful collaboration during further developing the TTDPatch.
